Eileen Apfel, OTR/L, CHT, of San Diego has written previously in the JHT on splinting for CTS. This time she offers a paper on splinting for cubital tunnel. She is the Senior Occupational Therapist/Hand Specialist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. In addition to her interest in splinting for a variety of problems, Eileen also works closely with musicians with upper extremity injuries and on producing patient education videos. In 2001, the ASHT presented her the award for Best Clinical Paper of the year.
Susan Klingaman Estilaei, DPT, OCS, has written her first publication, and we are pleased to present it in the JHT. Susan is affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco and also with San Francisco State University whose graduate physical therapy program is a joint effort between the two schools. She lives across the bay in Berkeley. Her principal areas of professional interest are TOS, ergonomics, and manual therapy.
The JHT is pleased to have so many contributions from “down under.” One such comes from Lisa Anne Harvey, BAppSc, GradDipAppSc, MAppSc, PhD, of Sydney, Australia. Lisa is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Consultant Physiotherapist to the Rehabilitation Studies Unit of the Northern Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sydney and the Royal Rehabilitation Centre of Sydney. Her publications are numerous on topics including stretch for treatment and prevention of contractures, especially in spinal cord injured patients, measuring joint mobility, and promoting passive tenodesis grip in the SCI population.
Ton A. R. Schreuders, PT, PhD, is a hand therapist and researcher at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Previously Ton has published articles on nerve injuries, dynamometry of the intrinsics, manual muscle testing, and tendon transfers. Much of his experience in peripheral nerve lesions and treatment comes from his work with leprosy patients. He is Chairman of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy.
